Sex and Relationship Education
Sex Education forms part of the Health and Science curriculum. Children learn about relationships within a moral, family orientated framework. They learn about themselves and other living organisms as part of the Life and Living Processes elements of the science curriculum in the Growth topic in the Summer Term. In Year 6, the Academy nurse talks to the children about puberty. Parents/carers are informed of this and given the opportunity to discuss the resources and content of these lessons. Parents/carers have a right to withdraw their child from Sex Education and should discuss this with the Principal.
