Homework
Our Vision:
We want our children to SHINE as independent, life-long learners.
The school's homework policy is structured in accordance with relevant statutory and non-statutory guidance, particularly referencing the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) recommendations on homework and the need for purposeful practice that consolidates classroom learning and supports progress.
1. Aims and Rationale
· To consolidate and reinforce learning that has taken place in school.
· To encourage independent learning and responsibility for pupils' own progress.
· To foster good learning habits and support the development of time management and organisational skills.
· To provide opportunities for parents and carers to support their child’s learning.
· To make homework tasks purposeful, consistent and accessible for all pupils.
Evidence from the Education Endowment Foundation (2021) suggests that homework can have a positive impact on outcomes when it is linked appropriately to classroom learning. Ofsted guidance also indicates that effective homework should align with curriculum needs and contribute to raising academic standards.
