This morning our Year 5 English group interviewed a journalist from The Guardian newspaper. Nazia Parveen, a Community Affairs Correspondent from the Manchester office, told the children about how she started as a journalist, what she likes about the job, some of the exciting stories she has covered and famous people she has met, and gave them some top tips ready for writing their own articles for our school newspaper.
We really enjoyed hearing about the places she has travelled to for work, how she interviews people, and especially about when she was a criminal reporter covering big criminal cases.
Hopefully after hearing about some of the exciting things she’s done some of our children will be inspired to work really hard in English, and maybe they too could become journalists one day.
